Attorney Dr. Matthias Creydt is the managing partner and founder of CREYDT.LAW.
He advises clients on all aspects of export control law, on preventive measures to avoid violations (export compliance), on remedial actions in cases of identified violations, and on sanctions and embargoes. A further focus of Matthias Creydt’s advisory practice is U.S. re-export control law.
Drawing on his extensive experience and professional background, Matthias Creydt advises companies across various industries in particular on the establishment and optimisation of internal export compliance programmes (ICP) and export control management in complex and challenging transactions and projects. Matthias Creydt also has comprehensive experience in export control audits, the definition and design of export control strategies, and the conduct of export control-related due diligence reviews.
Matthias Creydt is the author of several articles and book contributions on export control law, as well as a co-author of a compliance handbook. Dr. Creydt also regularly speaks at seminar providers and export control events, delivering presentations on export control law topics and export compliance issues.
Prior to founding CREYDT.LAW, Matthias Creydt was a founding partner of the law firm Billig & Creydt Rechtsanwälte. Further positions in his professional career include: Managing Director of a law firm likewise specialising in foreign trade law; Senior Manager at a globally leading European aerospace and space corporation, where he served as Head of Export Control Germany for one of its divisions; In-house Counsel and Export Control Officer at a globally operating mid-sized company; and Legal Counsel at the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
Matthias Creydt studied law at the Universities of Kiel and Cologne, as well as at the University of Guildford (Surrey, UK). In the course of his doctoral studies, he was also a Generic Visiting Scholar at Tulane University, New Orleans (USA). Prior to his studies, Matthias Creydt completed a vocational training programme as a bank clerk at a leading German bank.
Outside of legal advisory work, Matthias Creydt can often be found paddling on the Bavarian lakes or on the Baltic Sea near Rügen.
